The Tommy G. Thompson Center on Public Leadership presented the second event of a three part series looking at disabilities in Wisconsin. Each event addressed increasing independence for Wisconsin individuals with disabilities. This event’s focus was on preparing children for increased independence later in life, and how the state can help prepare them to join the workforce. The conference also examined the promise of telehealth in assisting children and families affected by IDD and what hurdles would need to be overcome for increased implementation. Cosponsors included the UW-Whitewater Inclusive Transition, Education and Employment Projects, UW-Madison Department of Rehabilitation Psychology & Special Education, Wisconsin Board for People with Developmental Disabilities, Special Olympics Wisconsin, The Waisman Center, The Arc Wisconsin, and Good Friend Inc.
