Scott Straus is Vilas Distinguished Achievement Professor of Political Science and International Studies and Chair of the Department of Political Science. His primary research and teaching interests concern the study of political violence, human rights, and genocide, with a focus on Sub-Saharan Africa. He has authored or edited nine books and published articles in the American Journal of Political Science, World Politics, Perspectives on Politics, Foreign Affairs, the Journal of Peace Research, and African Affairs, among other journals. He was previously a member of the Council (Board of Trustees) of the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum and continues to sit on the Museum’s Committee on Conscience.
